Bass Classic

Hi, all!

The Archery Club has a great opportunity to help work the Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC) in Conroe, TX. The dates are October 28th, 29th, and 30th (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and our 4-H Archery Club will be in charge of teaching kids how to shoot. Everything will be provided for us (bows, targets, arrows, etc.), so all we have to do is show up to coach.

We need our senior aged 4-H’ers (over 14 years old) and adult leaders to help make this event happen. By volunteering you will get a free t-shirt and lunch, too. In the past, our club has been given a donation by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Service of $500 to $700 for us running this area and spreading the word about shooting sports. The archery area will be pretty good this year because it will be only four targets and completely enclosed with arrow curtains—even on the top, if possible. We need six volunteers per shift to sign up, so let me know if you are interested and on what day(s). If you want to help but don’t know a ton about coaching, that’s okay because we’ll have some simple jobs like putting on finger tabs and arm guards. According to the TTBC web site, the event is open Friday 2pm-6pm, Sat noon-6pm, and Sun noon-6pm so those days & times can be the three shifts; probably plan on the shift starting 30 minutes to an hour earlier, though, for set up. We’ll probably need to turn in everyone’s name, t-shirt size, and the shift they are working so the TTBC people will know who all is there volunteering.

I am still working with Mr. Burnie on this, so I’ll give you more info as it come. He is also looking into us being allowed to sell raffle tickets at the archery range, too, so hopefully we’ll be able to. Mom and I will probably work both Saturday and Sunday (spend the night in a hotel Saturday night), so let me know if you need a ride and we can probably work something out.

Also, don’t forget to go to the forum and let me know what date would work best for a by-law revision meeting. So far, either Sunday the 16th or 24th is best. We need to get our by-laws revised so we can present it and vote on them at the October monthly meeting.
