2011 October Report

4-Her’s Paul, Katherine, Josh, Quianna, and Melanie volunteered at the Toyota Bass Classic held in Conroe, TX on October 28th to 30th, 2011. They worked with the Texas Parks and Wild Life (TPWL) organization to set up a shooting range at the event to spread the word about archery to youth ages 7 to 18. Over the weekend, 180 different kids came to try out archery using Genesis bows that TPWL provided. Our members also sold raffle tickets and promoted 4-H and our club. As a bonus, TPWL is donating $300 the club for our efforts! In the off time, they got to rock wall climb, test drive some Toyota vehicles on an off road course, hold snakes, enjoy the concerts, and many other fun activities that made for a great weekend!

Melanie Sera and Quianna Hebert participated in the “I Shoot for the Girls” archery tournament that was held in Plano, TX on October 15, 2011. The tournament was a benefit event with all proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the archers shot at special Pink Ribbon target faces. It was a great event with thirty-one shooters from all over Texas in attendance who participated to support a great cause.
