Urgent: Christmas Tree Sales & Workdays

Fresh Christmas trees for sale!!!  Community Service Opportunity!!!

Update: Voting is done.  Thanks!

As a club, we need to decide which time slots we can volunteer.  (If you don’t know about the Christmas tree sales, read below.)  Please take a moment to vote in this poll.  Choose up to the five best date and times your 4-H’er would be available to help out.  This is a great opportunity to do community service (and put into your recordbooks)!!

Charity Judah informs us:

Brazos County 4-H Families,

Thomas Moore Feed off of Hwy 6 South toward Navasota has given our county an amazing opportunity to raise funds pre-selling fresh Frazer Fir Christmas trees and wreaths this holiday season.  For every tree we pre-sell, Thomas Moore Feed will generously donate $10.00 back to the club who sold the tree and $7.00 back to the club for each wreath sold.  What an easy way for our clubs to raise money!

You may print and use the attached order form to begin pre-selling or get with your club manager for pre-printed colored copies.   Simply have your customer fill out the bottom of the “Pre-Order Form” and keep this portion along with their check for your records.   IMPORTANT:  Make certain to fill out the “Receipt” portion of the order form and SIGN where indicated next to “4-H Signature”.  The customer will keep this portion to claim their tree. All checks should be made payable to the Brazos 4-H Adult Leaders Association and should be turned into your club manager or a designated club coordinator no later than November 18, 2011.

Selling is easy.  Ask your friends, family, neighbors (anyone who would normally buy a fresh Christmas tree) to pre-order their tree from 4-H this year.  The trees will arrive at Thomas Moore Feed, just past Santa’s Wonderland, and will be available for pick up any time between Friday, November 25th and Saturday, December 3rd.   Your customers are welcome to choose from any tree on the lot that meets their size range by simply showing their signed receipt.

As an added incentive, Thomas Moore Feed has offered a generous incentive to those 4-Hers who have the highest $ of sales:

#1 Seller will receive $150 gift certificate

#2 Seller will receive $100 gift certificate

#3 Seller will receive $50 gift certificate

In addition, our clubs have been asked to volunteer at the Christmas tree lot to help load trees.  If your club does not have a designated work day and you would like to participate in this community service activity, please contact me directly for time and date availability.

Good luck in selling and Happy Holidays All!

In addition:

Thomas Moore Feed has requested we staff at least three 4H-ers at his store location just past Santa’s Wonderland on Hwy 6 four Fridays and four Saturdays during the peak holiday weekends to work the Christmas tree lot.  Additionally, clubs are welcome to sell hot chocolate, Christmas cookies, etc. during their workdays at the Christmas tree lot.

…Several clubs have already signed up for their Friday and/or Saturday work day, but there are many spots that need to be filled.  Please let me know as soon as possible what dates/times your club will be responsible for filling.

I’ve attached copies of the flyer & pre-order form.  To determine which club gets credit for a sale, please write the club name on the pre-order form.

I’ve responded to the poll with our availability for service hours at Thomas Moore Feed; however, our availability is tentative until we know a definite date/time of when our families will be celebrating both holidays.

It’s understandable. At this point, the club needs to give Charity some time slots we’re likely to fill. So, everybody voting when they’re likely to be able to help gets us moving forward with this.

      Thanks for voting!

My son noticed an odd bug where you couldn’t vote in the sidebar (on the right) but he could vote in the article above. If you experience this, I’m sorry but that’s what happens sometimes with plugins. Hopefully, it’ll just work in one of two places.
