Hope everyone is enjoying the winter weather and thankful for the rain that we so desperately need!
At the November archery club meeting, we decided to do a fun shoot out party for our holiday party/celebration of another great year. We basically have one Saturday we can do this on and that would be December 17th. So, I say we need to move forward with that date and plan exactly what we want to do. Paul Hinton has found “zombie” targets that are cartoon type drawings to shoot at….we’ll make up some sort of score card and teach you all how a shoot runs and how to keep score while having some fun-friendly competition. The officers, coaches, and I will figure out exactly how the shoot part will run, so all you will have to do is show up and we’ll explain that to you.
What I need to know is if we want to do a luncheon after the shoot or a breakfast before. [Feel free to post in the comments below or on Facebook.] In the past we have done a pot-luck type dinner at our December monthly meeting where every family brings some dish to share with everyone. So it was suggested we do this after the shoot out. The only problem I see with this is the fact that we will be outdoors at Central Baptist Church (where we always have practices) where it may be super cold out. I’m not sure how we would keep food warm and what we would do about seating…..but am definitely open to suggestions. One thing I thought we could maybe do is have the shoot out and then all go somewhere for the pot luck….maybe rent the gander mountain meeting room or something. Let me know if this is something that would interest you or if you would rather not do food.
Also, we decided to do a $5 or under white elephant gift exchange after the shootout. So, if you want to participate just bring something wrapped or in a gift bag and we’ll put them all together and each person who brought a gift will get to pick a different one.
Lastly, just a few reminders. Because of winter break being extra long this year, we have voted to move the December monthly meeting to the 3rd Thursday which will fall on Thursday December 15th, 2011. We will have a shorter meeting with a program on arrow fletching and then everyone is encouraged to stay to get hands on fletching practice (we have over 100 arrows to fletch so you will be helping us out, too haha).
