The Brazos 4-H Archery Club is an group of youth from ages 8 to 18 who share a love for archery. We have members who have been shooting over eight years and ones who just started a month ago….whether you shoot recurve or compound, or don’t even know the difference, we would love to have you join us. The best part is that you don’t even have to own a bow; our 4-H club has a variety of recurve bows that we allow our youth to use at our weekly practices.
Our youth get the opportunity to go to many shoots throughout the year from small county ones up to national and even international ones. We have many great coaches who love to work with youth to prepare them for these tournaments. For several years, our club has had at least one member selected to represent Texas 4-H on the State 4-H Recurve or Compound Archery teams. Being choosen allowed them to compete in the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational Tournament which has been held in places including South Dakota, Nebraska, and Texas! We are very proud of all of our members for these honors.
4-H is about more than just shooting, our goal is “to make the best better” and we acheive that by the “learn by doing” theory. We use shooting to teach safety, responsibility, respect, leadership, and many other life skills that will help each and every one of our members throughout their entire life. We also teach giving back by participating in community service projects which have included volunteering at the food bank, teaching special needs youth to shoot, picking up trash at churches, recycling soda cans, and more.
If this sounds like something you want your child to be involved in, then we’ll see you on the range!
